Midtown East Pre-War Co-Op Apartment Renovation

430 East 57th St, NYC:

Before & After

Many New York City apartments have both beauty and character, while still needing modernized upgrades and designs. This two-bed, two-bath apartment in a pre-war co-op in Midtown East, was exactly that. Focusing on elevating traditional design and architectural elements, the renovation stayed true to the client’s desired aesthetic.

A distinguished entryway with custom wainscoting panels and an indigo-blue floral wallcovering greets you upon entrance. The beautiful and stately coffered ceiling with newly installed recessed lighting enhances the design.

The new kitchen embodies traditional sophistication with white shaker upper cabinets and wood shaker lower cabinets. The luxury quartz countertop has bold blue veins which pairs with the blue, white, and grey marble mosaic backsplash. Stunning gold and glass light fixtures complete the space.

In the living room, the floral wallcovering continues, and the deep blue is highlighted throughout the space. Both the window frames and the fireplace bricks were painted indigo to match. To highlight the character of the apartment, the ceiling beams a light grey with a satin finish. The hardwood floors were refreshed as well by buffing and refinishing them with a brighter stain.

In the guest bathroom, the traditional floral motif is continued and reflected by the tile selections. We also completed a shower conversion for this bathroom. The design of the guest bath is aimed at keeping in line with the apartment scheme. The one-of-a-kind artisan hand-carved vanity and medicine cabinet complete the design along with the gold-tone fixtures and accessories.

In the primary bedroom, the design concept was continued with a blue wallcovering that is embossed with a floral pattern and an artistic effect. The primary en-suite bath is finished in large-format porcelain marble wall tiles. A honed marble mosaic floor tile was used for the floor for its beauty and durability. In the shower, the marble tiles are accented with a center of antique handmade tiles.
