UWS Pre-War Minimalist Studio Apartment Renovation

Located in the Upper West Side, this project consists of a compact kitchen, bathroom, and loft area, with the aim of infusing the small studio with an abundance of natural light and enhancing the overall comfort of the living space.

This project has unique elements that set it apart, namely the inclusion of a European white oak freestanding table and European white oak stair treads. To address concerns about floor noise, the owner opted for Bottega white tiles, aiming to reduce any unpleasant screeching when walking. Additionally, these go perfectly together with the custom white millwork with a built-in desk, and custom closet space designed by the client. Above the living room is the loft area, which had a custom closet system made specifically for this project.

Within the kitchen area, we incorporated a white quartz countertop, custom-made white cabinets, and exquisite subway backsplash tiles. Through careful planning and innovative design solutions, we were able to maximize the space to accommodate numerous appliances and provide ample storage.

Embracing the owner’s desire for a cozy ambiance, we selected frost penny tiles for the floor and timeless subway tiles for the shower walls, accentuated by a subtle light gray grout color to enhance the tile’s colors. The Winnberg mirror with an LED light creates the glow you need before you start your day. The temperature tuning allows you to select the warm or cool color desired for precise shaving or makeup application. The custom-built closet with shelves maximizes space utilization, and the door with small baskets provides even more storage options.
